The boycott’s against Go Daddy, the giant internet hosting company, continue to grow by leaps and bounds daily, causing the reputation of the internet hosting giant to plunge in popularity. The company, which claims to only be “having fun” in it’s marketing scheme, continues to cross all moral and ethical lines by hosting websites that reveal intimate pictures of women posted by”ex boyfriends” The backlash against the company has picked up steam, as women realize the company hosts websites created by child molesters, deviants and sex offenders.
The exodus of customers fleeing this sad excuse of a company comes with the realization that Go Daddy is hosting websites created by convicted child molesters, creepy ex boyfriends and all kinds of cyber trash. Not only does GoDaddy protect the rights of such predators, they vow to continue to defend thier reputation by targeting women who complain about such issues. The last time I looked, it was 2013, presumably a time that demands equality of the sexes.Maybe GoDaddy forgot that half their customer base is women.
NEWS:
US Internet hosting giant Go Daddy has been implicated in a lawsuit targeting administrators of so-called ‘revenge porn’ sites – a name for an Internet phenomenon where disgruntled ex-boyfriends or girlfriends post intimate, often naked pictures of their former partners online without permission.Let’s take a look at a plaintiff named “Texxxan” who found herself the target of an ugly website created by a crazy ex boyfriend.
The 16 plaintiffs accuse Texxxan.com, its hosting company and all of its subscribing members of breaking Texas state privacy laws. Rather than simply take down the site, GoDaddy used it’s formitible legal muscle to thwart the woman’s case and leave her exposed and humiliated.
GoDaddy acted more like a rapist’s accomplice than a web hosting company.
Battle of the sexes
The rise in popularity of “revenge porn” sites is credited to Hunter Moore – an American entrepreneur who launched the website IsAnyoneUp? in 2009, after a particularly hostile break-up. According to Moore, at its peak, IsAnyoneUp? was serving 30 million page views per month before it was only closed last year.
The main problem with sites of this kind is they often include the real name and address of the unwitting victim, crossing the line between a harmless prank and real-life bullying.
According to Ars Technica, last week 16 named plaintiffs filed a class action lawsuit against one such website, Texxan.com, accusing it of violating Texas state privacy laws. This being a class action, the plaintiffs represent all of the women featured on the site.
In the court filing earlier this year, Texxxan.com is accused of publishing private information “without obtaining permission or authorisation” from its female victims. In addition, plaintiffs believe that the website was “designed to cause severe embarrassment, humiliation and emotional distress”.
The lawsuit also holds the website’s hosting company Go Daddy accountable “under the doctrine of civil conspiracy”, as “the persons and/or entities hosting Texxxan.com”, along with “all subscribing members” of the website, which means the predominantly male audience.
The plaintiffs are convinced that Go Daddy profited from the website, so it should share the responsibility for its sleazy content. However, the Section 230 of the US Communications Decency Act states that online service providers are not to blame for the conduct of their users.
But enough is enough. If any men supports a company like Go Daddy, well, he is not much of a man, in my book. Go Daddy is slime and takes advantage of women. Why millions of websites are still hosted with GoDaddy is beyond me, but enough is enough. If you’re ready to leave GoDaddy – whether because of their advertising tactics that they just won’t change, poor judgment by its executive team, unethical business practices, carelessness for its existing customers or inability to control/maintain its own services properly This company, which hosts 60 million websites, will be the topic of future blogs. Please spread the word on Go Daddy. This perverted, disgusting and invasive web hosting company deserves the wrath of not just every mother and daughter, but of every son and father.Let’s see Go Daddy gone
